Beaverhead Animal Shelter will consider adoptive families in the Dillon and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.

If you are willing to wait for the right animal to be matched to you, you are an ideal candidate for Beaverhead Animal Shelter. As our success rate proves, these precious animals are well worth the wait.

Process

1. Apply

We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

2. Review

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

3. Come Meet The Animal You Are Adopting & Take Them Home

Once approved to adopt, you will come to our Shelter and meet the animal you are approved to adopt. If all goes well, you get to take your animal home with you that day!

Sometimes, you find it's not a good match. If so, you have 10 days to return the animal to our shelter without being charged a surrender fee. If after that 10 days, you feel it is not a good fit, we would love for you to bring the animal back to us to rehome.

We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular animal if you have not yet applied to adopt.
Beaverhead Animal Shelter is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We will make every effort to schedule your home visit in a timely manner. Please be patient with us…the animals need our time too.
All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption
Adoption fees range from $50 to $650, based on the age and health of each individual animal.
