Meet River!
River is a sweet, blonde mix with a heart of gold. He'll need some patience and understanding as he gains confidence in his new environment. At first, River might be shy and reserved, but once he builds trust with you, his goofy playful personality shines through! He loves to have fun and show off his silly side, whether it's running around or chasing after toys.
With a little time and encouragement, River will flourish into a loyal and loving companion. He's looking for someone who is ready to give him the space and time he needs to feel safe and secure. If you're patient, kind, and ready for a fun-loving friend, River will reward you with endless joy and affection.
This boy is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He would do best in a home with larger dogs as he has a high prey drive. He has shown fear-based aggression towards men. We have been working with him to overcome his distrust. He would make an excellent woman's dog as he would be a loving protector!
River goes for frequent runs with one of our volunteers and this is what she told us after their last run: "River was so fast on his jog! Then he slowed down at mile 1.5 and slowly walked the rest of the way. Non-reactive to passerbys, beautiful little 'plod' (his walking style), didn't pull on the lease except when he saw a few gophers".
